While the world may never be completely free of ethical wrongdoings and mishaps, robots—and advanced technology in general—have the potential to greatly improve mankind’s ethical strength and moral wellbeing. In all aspects of life—from communication, to medical experimentation on animals, to sweatshop alternatives—the ethics of technology have the possibility to drastically reduce suffering on a global scale. Productivity is crucial, and so are ethics, yet at the moment, we are ethically incoherent; our species must move forward, as we are obliged to use technology to everyone’s advantage in order to make meaningful progress.
